Providence Housing Development Corporation required funding to build the East House – State Street Apartments in Rochester, New York. To achieve the most funding, Providence Housing had to design the renovation to meet national energy efficiency standards. Providence Housing needed an energy efficiency consultant who understands all aspects of energy efficient construction including the complexities of a comprehensive renovation. Sustainable Comfort was ready to help.
The Sustainable Comfort Team:
- Identified the best energy efficient strategies in the design and construction to provide a successful renovation.
- Certified all 45 units as ENERGY STAR® Homes to meet the project energy efficiency goals and secure project funding.
- Provided technical support to the architect and builder during design and construction to achieve ENERGY STAR® Homes.
The renovation of this parking garage into apartments in Rochester, NY will serve special needs residents and provide permanent affordable housing for the surrounding community. This project also helps to revitalize a distressed area of the city. High efficiency mechanical and hot water systems, energy efficient appliances, added insulation, and comprehensive air sealing will provide reduced energy use for these apartments.
“As an owner/developer, the best part about working with Sustainable Comfort was that successful execution of our energy and sustainability goals for the project took almost no involvement from us. They handled everything directly with the design and construction team while keeping us in the loop and the project was smoothly completed.”
Monica McCullough, Providence Housing Development Corporation
